Did you know 1 in 4 people feel socially isolated?* 

Loneliness is a growing issue in the world, and many people see its effects rising in modern society. 54% of people don’t feel comfortable asking for support* and put together, these issues have potential health risks that can influence a person’s lifespan like links to dementia, heart disease, and other serious health concerns. **

We wanted to gain a better understanding of social isolation so we can help create a lasting change in these statistics.


We are committed to taking action because we believe everyone deserves the social connections needed to thrive. Through our social mission, NIVEA CONNECT, we will fight social isolation and the stigma of loneliness.

Togetherness is in our DNA, and so we set out to do something about the issue of social isolation. 

We will raise awareness to help reduce the stigma of social isolation, educate and enable meaningful social connections by:

  1. Utilizing our brand voice and channels to communicate and engage with communities.
  2. Setting up local NIVEA CONNECT projects, with partners, in 40 countries by 2026.
  3. Supporting and amplifying a global community of scientists, experts and organizations fighting against social isolation.

Our study helped us gain a better understanding of what social isolation means. One participant shared, “My friends moved away, my family is overseas, and remote work has left me feeling disconnected and alone.” This sentiment is all too common, with 9 out of 10 expressing a desire for greater care and connection in their lives. *


We want to help but we know we can’t fight social isolation alone. That’s why we’ve partnered with organizations around the world to take action, work to lessen the stigma around the issue, and create meaningful connections.

With accredited partners spanning various fields ranging from mental health professionals to social activists, we are committed to taking a holistic and impactful approach. Our goal is to implement NIVEA CONNECT projects in 40 countries by 2026, ensuring that our efforts reach communities in need, regardless of geography. By leveraging local insights and global expertise, we aim to create meaningful connections and lasting change on a worldwide scale.

An inspirational example of this is in South Africa. The Thanda Community Centre offers a multitude of programs providing a safe space for Early Childhood learners to attend school daily, the youth to connect and build social skills through after-school programs, and the elderly to engage with other primary caregivers sharing their skills whilst fostering positive relationships. These initiatives are crucial in working to prevent social isolation by ensuring inclusive interactions and engagement of members of all ages across the Thanda community. 

While in Czechia, our partner Nevypusť Dusi focuses on mental health prevention among children and adolescents. Their program, ‘The Background for the Soul’, equips young people with the tools to recognize early signs of mental health issues, learn healthy coping strategies, and practice self-care. By promoting well-being within school communities, they’re helping to prevent the isolation that can lead to more serious mental health challenges.

By 2026, our goal is to have NIVEA CONNECT projects in 40 countries, supporting communities worldwide.
